He never attended any school of music, but rather possessed natural, musical abilities, all his musical education came from his experiences at his father’s church, or at home. His father worked as a minister in the Evangelical Association for over 60 years, which likely influenced Elijah’s decision to enter the ministry. He was born on in Orwgsberg, Pennsylvania.
